Black Friday was not only a day to save. It was also the very day Extra Butter turned 3, and with that came along a new showroom and a celebration. Brain Trust took a ride down to take part in the celebration. Although it was only short stay, we were able to gaze at the new showroom and have a good time. Sons of 84 were in town last Sunday shooting a video for their new single, "Need a Man". The new single features Lil Wayne and is from their upcoming album, which is set to release very shortly. Not only does the single feature a very different sounding Lil Wayne, ( which is not a bad). The group also cast non other than, the lovely, Rosa Acosta. EastWest was one of the several location chosen to shoot the video, which was followed by the night club scene at Chi. Apparently a lot of you thought Rosa Acosta was a "no show", but for the one's that stuck it out it was well worth it. If you missed Rosa you missed out BIG TIME. No worries pictures and a short video was shot, but no justice will be served to Rosa. She is BEAUTIFUL.

"Power Fury": The Recap

Last Thursday MISHKA played host to Mark Todd's new collection entitled, "Power Fury." Heavily influenced by Jack Kirby the artist deconstructs then reconstructs each piece to make a whole new art piece. Starting with an idea Mark Todd free hands all of his works adding layer by layer bringing new life to his pieces. We were lucky enough to have a small, but insightful conversation with the down to earth artist, Mark Todd. The smallest pieces which measure roughly 6 inches, can take up to 3 hours to complete. Tedious work but the outcome was very much appreciated by everyone at the show.

The collection will be up until May 27 at the MISHKA 350 Broadway location, so try to make it down to see the art for yourself. Cameras take great pictures but they don't do the art any justice.

After an unforgettable UFC 112, not the good kind of unforgettable. It will always stay in our minds how the Spider Anderson Silva did nothing but embarrass himself and the UFC. Going all five rounds with Demian Maia, doing what seemed more like dancing with the stars than an actual cage fight. Silva retained the belt. Not taking anything away from Frankie Edgar's thunder. UFC 112 was Frankie's night, going the whole 5 rounds with "The Prodigy" BJ Penn. Frankie won the UFC Lightweight Title by unanimous decision.

Here at BrainTrust we are Frankie Edgar fans as well as BJ Penn fans so the title is still in good hands. So once we heard BJ was going to be in our area signing his new book, we jumped at the chance to meet the former champ.

Excuse the pictures and video angle the staff had TOO MANY rules for the event. I'm guessing he hasn't healed recovered from the fight, he never took the glasses off.

Last Saturday EastWest had their grand opening party. BrainTrust and crew took the ride out to Huntington to support our good friends. On arrival it was easy to see that the event was a huge success. Tons of people out enjoying the spring night in courtyard. The grill was blazing, the music was loud, and the beers were ice cold. 10 Deep came down and bought some goodies for the guests. Phetus also came down and did his thing for the party. Overall it was a good night with good friend and good vibes.

BrainTrust and crew took a ride over to Jersey to catch the UFC weigh-ins this past weekend. the days was packed with an autograph session, a question and answer session, and to finish the day off the official UFC 111 weigh-ins. The fans packed in the Prudential Center as well as a few of the UFC fighters that made their way down. The event was awesome. A minor set back coming back home its not fun getting lost, especially in Jersey.

Got a chance to get Cain Velasquez autograph a fellow countryman and the next UFC Heavyweight Champion.

Over the weekend, legendary underground artist and good friend of ours Phetus sent us over his newest project entitled, Concrete Immortalz. A graffiti inspired comic book with a subtle color scheme, but still bringing out those bright reds, yellow, and greens to captivate all the action moments. Really good read and should be picked up quick. Phetus, thanks for the piece of art.
